Potty Time

Yes, it has begun, potty training. Its not that I started it with Emma, she started because Morgan is potty training. She has known that Morgan started using the potty but wasn't very interested until this week, even though we bought her an Abby Cadabby potty seat. My sister kept Emma on Monday while I went to the doctor & did some other errans & much to my surprise Emma went ti ti in the potty at Karen's for the first time after watching Morgan. This is only her second time sitting on the potty & she did it (she sat on the potty while we were at the beach Labor Day). Then yesterday before her bath we tried again & she went ti ti again. Twice in 3 days seems pretty good to me, but we still have a long way to go. Peer pressure can be good at times especially if it will get Emma to use the potty.

Short but Sweet

Over the weekend we went to my Mom's beach house & had a great time, as usual. Unfortunately we forgot to charge our batteries for the camera & we only got a few pics. Emma was very hesitant at first but once she got used to the noise of the waves she did just great, no tears at all. Emma has been asking me every day to go back to Nana's beach house, she had such a good time, except for the ride home. We had been in the car for about an hour & she started screaming, I knew something was wrong, then she threw up. She had not eaten or drank much all day so maybe her tummy was hurting who knows. She was fine about 45 minutes later & was her normal singing/talking self.

We ended up leaving the beach a day early due to my uncle, who had taken a turn for the worst in his battle with cancer. He actually passed away last night but is resting peacefully now in heaven. Please keep his family in your prayers.

New Things

So it seems like our little Emma has become a very active little toddler. Right now her favorite toys are her little people playsets, puzzles & stuffed animals or baby dolls. She has also started pulling out some old baby toys & playing with them again. She loves going outside to "wing", play ball, run or ride her new trike. She is dancing, starting to run, trying to jump & her Daddy taught her how to spin. She is also finally cutting #13 tooth. It broke thru the gums yesterday.

She still doesn't eat a wide variety of things: hotdogs (her fav & would eat them every meal if we let her), grilled chicken, ham, bacon, eggs, cheese (another fav), waffles, french toast, cereal bars, raisins, craisins, and soup (her new fav, especially potato or broc & cheese). I almost forgot rice (mostly plain) and the few veggies: corn, broccoli and green beans. She also loves: strawberries, grapes, oranges, pineapples, apples & starting to take bites of bananas, peaches & nectarines. Wow after seeing this list, she eats more than I thought she did but we can only eat so much corn, broccoli & green beans with our meals. I am still trying new things with her hoping she will add to her diet. She is such a joy to have in our life regardless what she eats.

Doesn't she look so big on her trike. She can barely push herself along with her feet, no peddles yet.

Weight Check

On Friday Emma had a weight check with her pedi & Dr K said she looked great. She weighs 22 lbs, 10 oz & is 32.5 in tall. We were really hoping we could start weening Emma off of Pediasure since is so expensive but Dr. K wants her to stay on it since Emma doesn't eat very much. She also said we need to put Emma back on a multi-vitamin since she doesn't eat much meat. She took Emma off of it for a while because she was drinking 24-32 oz of Pediasure a day but now she drinks around 16 oz so Dr. K wants to make sure she gets enough iron in her diet.

Emma also got a booster shot while we were there which the nurse said would give her a sore arm. The rest of the day Emma kept saying "elbow off, hurt." She does have a big knot on her arm so I am sure it does hurt, poor baby.

VBS 2010

So this was Emma's first VBS and at first she really liked it (expect for the puppets), especially the singing but by the 3rd night she was completely over it & crying about everything. I taught the Cradle Roll class with a few helpers, which came in handy, there was at least one baby crying every night. Then on Friday night 3 out of 4 babies cried, there wasn't really a point that night when someone wasn't crying. Needless to say there was no lesson that night only coloring, snacks, playtime & lots of hold me time. Of course one of the criers was mine, who never cries in class so I knew she was tired & done with VBS. The last day/night of VBS was Sat. afternoon which was followed by a hot dog cookout which wasn't as bad as we all thought it would be. I don't think anyone cried, or at least not during class. Emma is still saying "All Done, Singing, All Done Class", with a whimper in her voice, poor thing I think she had an overload. Better luck next year Emma.

Someone brought in a real tracker for the kids to climb & pose for pics.

Me teaching & trying to get Morgan to smile for the pic.

This was the last night of VBS & Emma is not happy about being there.

Hilton Head

The beginning of August we met our friends from AL Kristi, Scott + their kids Kate & Brooks in Hilton Head, SC for a few days. We had not seen them in almost 3 years, which meant they had never met Emma so the trip was extra special to us to be able to show her off. We all had a great time & Emma is still talking about "Kissy & Ott".

This is their 5 year old Kate, look how pretty she is.

This is Brooks, their 3.5 year old being his true self, running & playing.

I had to tickle her to get her to smile in the pics, she was hungry, tired & not into picture time.

Kate really liked Emma's pool float.

Playing Dress Up

Emma is so into trying put on socks, shoes, pants on, regardless whether they are hers or not. Our fav so far is Emma putting on as many Swimmies as she can fit on her legs. Chris took a video of her in Hilton Head with them on. If you listen closely Chris asks Emma if she has 7 swimmies on her legs but when we took them off she actually had on 8.
