First Beach Trip

Our beach trip started off a little interesting when Mama, Beverly & Morgan got the beach house first to discover we had no water. We found out soon after there had been a water leak a few months ago & the city turned Mama's water off but never informed her of it. We found this out from Mr. Ed, her neighbor. So we borrowed water from Mr. Ed & bought some gallons of water to hold us over until a plumber came to fix it on Saturday morning. It was a interesting night but the plumber was there by 10am, fixed the problem & was gone in 30 minutes. Apparently a tree root pulled the pipes apart & it was an easy fix.

We all had a great time with the babies at the beach but I must say we are all very tired. It is truely exhausting traveling with babies but they both did great. Emma is trying to sit up & rolled over several times while we were there. She even woke us up early Saturday morning & she was on her tummy but not very happy about it.

I wish I had taken a picture of this, but since the bedroom we normally sleep in is a little small we put Emma's pack n play in our closet & she slept great in there. We felt a little guilty putting in there but once she would fall asleep we opened the door so she wasn't so confined.
Emma wasn't as excited to on the beach as her cousin Morgan but she did get down & play a little. When we would put Emma's feet in a puddle of water, she would pick her feet up. If we tried to cover Emma's feet up with sand she would shake off the sand. As you will see in the picture below, Morgan was thrilled to be there & had a great time.

Regular Baby

Yesterday I told Emma as we were leaving her follow-up appointment with her Cardiologist that she can now be a regular baby. She is offically off all her meds & now can be a regular baby except of being on 27 calorie formula. We also had a follow-up appointment with the GI doctor on Wednesday & he said she could stop taking the Prevacid, which she hated anyway. So now we don't have to worry about remembering to give her meds anymore, YAH!!!
She is doing much better eating her cereal, in fact she ate all of it this morning. I forgot to mention that Dr. K said to add a little bit of formula to it since that is a taste she is used to & that she should pick it up in a couple days. The past 2 days she ate most of it but today was the first time she ate all of it.
Also she rolled over last night while playing under her play gym & she is trying to roll over again now but the bars of the gym keep getting in her way. She may be an old pro at rolling over by the time we come back from the beach on Monday since Morgan will be there & she is scooting around on her tummy (but she can only go backwards). Cousin Morgan may teach her some new tricks.
Oh as a side note, I have Sesame Street on for the first time just to see what Emma would do & our dog, Spencer keeps barking at all the puppets. She hasn't noticed it at all but Spencer who watches TV sometimes isn't quite sure about the talking & singing puppets. Its quite funny.

Beach Prep

We are heading Mama's beach house tomorrow for the long weekend & I am already exhausted. Who knew it would be so hard to find swimsuits for myself & Emma. Emma has just started wearing 3-6 month old clothes so finding a suit for her has been quite a task + her surgical scar isn't supposed to be exposed to direct sunlight for 1 year. So find a 3-6 month swimshirt shirt has been that much tougher but the search ended yesterday at Gymboree (they are having a sale - YAH!!!). I found one earlier in the week at Target but the shirt is too short & the pants are way too big so we will be returning that one (she is a long skinny girl, now 14lbs).
I finally found myself a swimsuit at Ross today although its not my favorite but it was only $18. Now I know my body isn't quite the same as it used to be & I still have some baby weight to loss but man it took about 2 weeks to find suits for Emma & myself.
My mom, Beverly & Morgan will be joining us at the beach & it should be an interesting trip with the babies. My oldest sister Karen & her family will be at the beach too but they are staying with her in-laws & we will probably go play with all of the in Ocean Isle. We plan to take lots of pictures to share of the babies first trip to the beach.

6 month checkup

Friday was Emma's 6 month checkup & Dr. K was very pleased with her progress. Emma weighed 13 lbs, 12.5 oz & 26.25" tall. I was a bit worried when I saw that Emma's weight was in the 10% but Dr. K said not to worry about that since Emma has been totally of the chart & now she is back on & going up the curve. Her height was in the 75% which is probably dead on since she is all legs.

Dr. K says Emma can start eating cereal & soon will move on to fruit, veggies & a cup. Developmentally Emma is slightly behind due to her surgery & post-op time but she should catch up. She isn't rolling over & doesn't really seem interested but Dr. K just told me to be patient & keep doing tummy time with her & she will come around soon.
Emma did try cereal for the first time over the weekend & just as everyone had told me, she didn't like it. She made a lot of funny faces & kept sticking her tongue out then came the tears.

6 months old

Our little Emma turned 6 months old this past Thursday & I wish I had some weight or height updates for you but we don't go for her check-up until Friday. I can't wait to see how much she has grown. We are now waking her up at night every 5 hours instead of 4 & hopefully will soon be able to stop waking her up at night. She is still on 27 calorie formula which may get adjusted this week at her check-up.

She is babbling more & more each day. She reaches out for the dog & cats if they are near by & smiles when she sees them. She really enjoys playing in her walker or in her Bumpo. She isn't sitting up on her own yet but I am sure that will be happening soon.
